The new EP “The Path to Reincarnation” is out NOW!

Well, well… It seemed like a project that would never finish at some point but after literally dozens of tries to get it right and countless hours in front of the Maschine and other software I was finally happy enough to put out a two-track EP “The Path to Reincarnation”  to public. This EP precedes the forthcoming album “Reincarnation” (as the name kind of  suggests) that is coming out at some (hopefully early) point of 2014.

“The Path of Reincarnation EP” will be available in Soundcloud with embedded players also available in the Music section of this site as usual. In addition to the usual suspects, for the first time in Tosca history, this EP will also be available through a commercial channel, Google Play (once it gets through the validation process by Google). I wanted to put my music available through the channels that so many people nowadays use to listen their music and Google Play gave me an opportunity to do so without too much hassle.

Now, first things first regarding the new distribution channel. Google Play is indeed a commercial service that costs money to use as a streaming service and yes, I have also put a (relatively nominal) price for the tracks and the EP if you want to buy them from the Play store. So, does this mean I’m charging for my music now?? No, not really. The price set for buying from store is basically only a new type of way to support Tosca production, if you wish to do so. You can still download the tracks from the Soundcloud free of charge and of course, if you are a VIP pass user of Google Play, you can listen the tracks as much as you want through the streaming service.

Why Google Play then, why not Spotify? That is surely more popular of the two, right? Well, there is a simple reason for that: to get your music to Play is relatively simple for an independent artist like me while Spotify basically requires a third-party “agent” in between and I am unwilling to go that road. Maybe some time in the future I do take that step, maybe I don’t, time will tell.

But that’s that, enjoy your dose of reincarnation and be ready for the full album release in 2014!

A small facelift to the website.

tosca_logo_square_t

The Toscasound.com website has gone through a bit of a refresh in logos, colors etc. This has been done to anticipate some future stuff that will be published hopefully in the near future. Nothing ground-breaking really coming up but at least stuff is again happening after a unusually long silence since last spring.

In the production side, a jump has been made to Native Instruments’ Machine 2.0 software with some great additions that will make production easier and more fun and of course hopefully also produce better results. Remember to follow this site and toscasound in Facebook+Twitter to be first to know about the future releases!

Tosca joins Mixcloud with a trance classics DJ mix

mixcloud-logoTosca has officially joined MixCloud service with a 70-minute DJ mix of trance classics (well, classics in my books at least) . Jam & Spoon, Age of Love, The Thrillseekers, Paul van Dyk and Orkidea among others are present in the mix that represents the cross-section of the Trance history from the early 90s until today (although no recent tracks are included in this mix).

You can find the mix here:

Interruption of service in toscasound.com coming up

There will be an interruption of service in toscasound.com on February 28th (or even earlier) because of change of service provider. Due to some circumstances out of my reach (mostly, delays in transferring the domain names) this interruption can last longer that I would like, even days, but I will inform about the developments through the Facebook and Twitter accounts.

During the interruption, Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud accounts will continue to run normally:

Unconditional EP available in the music section!

The brand new “Unconditional EP” is  now available in the music section. The EP includes the title track Unconditional (Original Mix) and re-worked “2013” versions of the older tracks Underwater and November Dawn.

“Unconditional” is a classic Tosca tune, with some 303 basslines and breaks to supplement the traditional trance sounds and feeling. 2013 remix of “Underwater” gives the old promo track a totally new touch, with some analog drum breaks and whole new set of sounds. “November Dawn” has also gone through a major overhaul in 2013 remix, losing the breakbeat core of the original mix and having the sound selection and general feeling of a more traditional trance track.

Enjoy and stay tuned for some more during the spring! I’m planning to do something a bit different this time, we’ll see how it goes…
